Striker could join Gunners this summer

Arsenal have been cleared to sign FC Porto striker Jackson Martinez for £25million.

The Colombia international has been linked with a move to the Emirates all season, and The Gunners manager Arsene Wenger has been given the go ahead to sign the 28-year-old after Italian giants Inter Milan pulled out of the race to sign the forward.

However, it was reported last month that Roberto Mancini’s side were in advanced talks and agreed personal terms with the Colombian star.

It seems the Serie A side have had a sudden change of heart with the club now seeking the signature of Paris St-Germain star Edinson Cavani.

Martinez is keen for a move to North London as he claims he has always had dreams to live in the capital and play in the Premier League.

Martinez Praises Arsenal

On interest from Arsenal, Martinez said: “It’s a big club in one of the best leagues in the world.

“We have to see if an offer will become a reality or not.

“The day we’ll know where my future goes is near. I still haven’t decided, as I’m focused on the Copa America right now.” he added.

However, Spanish giants Atletico Madrid are still favourites ahead of Arsenal to sign the former Chiapas and Independiente Medellin ace this summer.

The bookmakers have given Diego Simeone’s side a price of 1/2, Milan are at 9/4, while Arsenal are third in line at 7/1.
