Premier League giants are closing in on the £17.5 million signing of Sokratis Papastathopoulos, according to reports in Germany.
The Borussia Dortmund defender is out of contract in 12 months’ time and it is looking like the German club will cash in at the end of this season.
Their new head of recruitment Sven Mislintat is the man pushing for the deal and he is in ‘close contact’ with the defender’s agent Konstantinos Farras.
The Greek defender himself said that he is in contact with agents for advanced talks.
Arsenal are seen as the favourites to sign him. However, Manchester United, Chelsea and Juventus are also credited with interest.
