Arsenal could miss out on Cesc payment

Chelsea and Jose Mourinho are working on a deal for Cesc Fabregas that would rule out Arsenal receiving any money that Barcelona get from the sale of their player.

Eventhough Arsenal have rule out the return of the Spaniard to the Emirates, 50 per cent of the sale fee that Barcelona would recieve, would go to Arsenal’s hands.

And it is Chelsea who have opened up talks with Barcelona, but are trying to negotiate a way of preventing Arsenal from getting this free payment.

This issue has stalled the contract talks, but it is understood that the deal could be struck very shortly.

A further clause that Arsenal would receive £4.4 million if Barcelona win two La Liga titles and one Champions League title over the first five years of Fabregas’s return has not been triggered.

After three seasons back at the Nou Camp, the overall cost of the Fabregas deal so far stands at just over ÂŁ28 million.

Barcelona have placed a ÂŁ30 million price tag on Fabregas, but Chelsea have offered ÂŁ27 million , which would see Arsenal get nothing from Barcelona.
