Arsene Wenger tried to sign the midfielder last summer

Arsenal are expected to overhaul their side this summer after a poor Premier League campaign this season. They will finish 6th in the Premier League and will miss the Champions League next season.

Arsene Wenger will leave the club at the end of the season and the club are looking to add reinforcements in both on and off the field. The club’s top priority is to add reinforcements in the the midfield and defense.

One of the Gunner’s top target is Monaco star Thomas Lemar ahead of the transfer window. Arsene Wenger tried to sign him last summer and bid €100 million for him but the player rejected the offer.

The France International is still one of the top targets for the Premier League giants and have handed a hope in pursuit of him.

Former Arsenal star believes the 21 year old will leave Monaco and could be up for grabs after the World Cup. He claims the player could be heading for England this summer.

He told bwin: “Thomas Lemar will leave Monaco after the World Cup this summer.

“I think he needs a new challenge and would love to experience a new country.

“Arsenal were of course interested last year but I don’t know if that’s still the case now that Arsene Wenger will no longer be manager. He would be suited to the Premier League.”

Lemar has struggled to replicate his stellar form from last season but still have managed to score four goals and assisted eight this season. Despite his struggles, he is still one of the most talented players in the world and is still attracting interest from European clubs.
