Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna has revealed that he is delighted at the signing of German international Mesut Ozil and has admitted that he is glad he doesn’t have to come up against the former Real Madrid star.

The Gunners captured the 24-year-old on transfer deadline day for a whopping ÂŁ42.3million in a deal that shocked the footballing universe.

Ozil has met up with his team-mates for the first time this week and trained with them on Thursday and Friday with the off-chance that he could make his debut today against Sunderland.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Sagna has admitted he is delighted to see the club sign a world-class player.

“I’m very happy. He’s a quality player and we need players like him to come to Arsenal, hopefully he can make the difference offensively,” Sagna told Arsenal Player.

“Technically he is a world-class player. He can assist many goals, he did it in the past with Real Madrid and Werder Bremen so I think he’s going to do it with us.

“I played against him with the national team and he was the man of the match. It’s not good to have him against you.”
