Arsenal eye up potential transfer of Mario Mandzukic

Arsenal are currently evaluating the cost of signing Bayern Munich striker Mario Mandzukic in the upcoming transfer window.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has accepted the large possibility of Diego Costa joining London rivals Chelsea and so has taken the Atletico man off his transfer list, meanwhile Monaco superstar radamel falcao is suffering with a knee ligament injury so signing the Colombian would be a very pricy risk.

Scouts from the North London side have begun to familiarise themselves with trips to Germany as they have monitored Schalke’s Julian Draxler and Nuremberg’s Josip Drmic in the past and are now ready to add the Croatian international to the list of potential transfers.

The European champions will be reluctant to lose their main striker but with one year left on his contract and with mandzukic wanting first team football, it would be a wise move for all parties involved.

The 27 year old came on as a substitute for Thomas Muller at Old Trafford during Bayern’s Champions League clash with Manchester United and provided his side with a stronger attacking force as they pushed for a goal.

Next season will be difficult for Mandzukic following the arrival of Bundesliga star Robert Lewandowski so a move to a club where he is probably more likely to get regular first team action would definitely tempt the Croat.
