Arsenal eye up Vargas if Cavani deal stalls

Reports in Italy claim that Arsenal officials have been in touch with Napoli over the availability of Eduardo Vargas.

But they may be beaten to the deal as Vargas enjoyed a very successful season on loan with Valencia and they may choose to make the deal permanent.

However a deal will be entirely dependent on whether Arsenal are able to wrap up the deal for PSG superstar Edinson Cavani, with a move for the Uruguayan reportedly gathering momentum after Arsene Wenger confirmed his interest.

Vargas would join fellow Chilean international Alexis Sanchez, who signed for the gunners earlier this summer, and it would be a perfect match of pace, skill and a dynamic style of attacking football.

Vargas made just a couple of appearances for Chile at this year’s World Cup, the first being in their side’s impressive victory over former world champions, Spain.
