Karim Bellarabi and Benedikt Howedes on Arsene Wenger’s radar

Arsenal are interested in signing German duo Karim Bellarabi and Benedikt Howedes, according to reports.

The Gunners have had several Germans in their past, with Mesut Ozil and Per Mertersacker in the current team representing the World champions.

They’ve also had the likes of Jens Lehman and Lukas Podolski in recent years, and Arsene Wenger is ready to add two more Germans to his side.

According to reports, Bellarabi from Bayer Leverkusen is a target, as is experienced centre-back Howedes from Schalke.

Once again injuries have struck at the Emirates Stadium, leaving Wenger short on depth, and with the January transfer window just under two months away, he’s already putting plans in place.

Two Germans Wanted

With injuries to Theo Walcott, Danny Welbeck and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, wingers are needed in North London, and that’s where Bellarabi comes in.

The 25-year-old is rapid down the wing and would provide constant problems for Premier League defenders.

As well as on the wing, Arsenal could look to strengthen at the back.

Mertesacker is ageing and with fitness concerns over Laurent Koscielny, Wenger may want to add one more centre-back to his squad.

Howedes could be that man as Wenger has been a long-term admirer of the 27-year-old, and it’s believed a formal move could be launched in the New Year.

No talk of price-tags have been revealed as of yet, but it’s an investment Wenger is interested in making.
