Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been dealt yet another transfer blow after French side Lille rejected the Premier League side’s approach for Salomon Kalou.
The Gunners are in desperate need for a new attacking threat to ease the workload off Olivier Giroud, and after falling short in the Julian Draxler chase, Wenger started to look elsewhere on transfer deadline day.
The first target was Miroslav Klose from Lazio, and with the German keen on the move, it looked like a deal could be completed, but the two club could not agree a fee so the deal collapsed.
Then it was reported that Wenger went back in for Kalou, who he was interested in last season, but that approach has also been turned down due to the French side not willing to sell.
It is believed that Arsenal’s only signing tonight will be Kim Kallstrom on loan from Spartak Moscow.
