A BBC Sport journalist has confirmed the news that Arsenal are not interested in resigning former-captain Cesc Fabregas from FC Barcelona.

According to the reporter, Arsenal have let the Spanish club know that they are not interested in exercising the buy-back option in the Spaniard’s contract which means the midfielder is now open to leave to any club, which Chelsea being the current favourites.

It’s believed Arsene Wenger is keen on signing his main priorities first, being a striker, a right-back and a backup goalkeeper, and he has made it clear that another creative midfielder is not needed, despite the club being riddled with injuries last season.

It’s also been reported that Wenger is open to buyng a defensive-midfielder, if the right deal becomes available, but for the Frenchman, it’s a no-go to resigning Fabregas.
