Arsenal are interested in signing FC Porto striker Jackson Martinez, according to the player’s agent.
The Colombian international, who is set to star at this Summer’s World Cup after AS Monaco striker Falcao failed to return in time, has been lethal in Portugal, netting 46 goals in just two seasons since arriving from Chiapas, a Mexican side.
Martinez has attracted several suitors since his stand-out performances for Porto, including Chelsea, but according to his agent, it’s Arsenal that are the main interest at the moment.
Roma and Tottenham have also shown interest in the 27-year-old, but his agent has today confirmed that Arsene Wenger’s side is leading the race, along with Spanish side Valencia.
“In Italy we have had very little contact, but for sure there have not been any offers made by Roma.
“There are, instead, opportunities abroad – Arsenal and Valencia in particular are very interested in Jackson Martinez.”
