Arsene Wenger is monitoring Argentine’s situation at Manchester United
Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Manchester United star Angel Di Maria, according to reports this morning.
The Argentine has failed to settle in Manchester and struggled to adapt to English football during his debut season in the Premier League.
Di Maria Struggles
Di Maria completed a £60million switch from Real Madrid to United this time last summer, after helping guide the Spanish side to the Champions League.
However, the winger failed to impress at Old Trafford throughout the 2014/2015 campaign and didn’t show the kind of form he presented in Spain.
Interest in Winger
As well as Arsenal, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain are interested in signing the 27-year-old and could both make mega-money moves for the Argentinian this summer, with United keen to sell if the price is right.
Louis Van Gaal isn’t convinced Di Maria has what it takes to make it in the Premier League, and could sell already if the offer is substantial enough.
Despite his poor campaign, officials at Old Trafford are hopeful they can get most of the £60m they spent back if they do sell, but it’s looking likely it will be a bit below after his poor season.
Arsenal to make Swoop?
As for Arsenal, it’s reported that Arsene Wenger is still a huge admirer of the winger despite his debut season in England, and after trying to sign in four times in the past, the Frenchman may make a formal move this summer.
Whether United would listen to offers from a direct rival is not yet understood, but it would be one of the biggest shocks in the transfer window.
Di Maris was famously sent off against Arsenal for touching the referee when the two sides met in the FA Cup Quarter-Finals at Old Trafford.
