Arsenal are ready to submit a formal bid for Stoke City goalkeeper Asmir Begovic.
The Gunners are keen on the Bosnian stopper, and view Begovic as a genuine target to challenge current number one Wojciech Szczesny.
Szczesny is the onlyv senior goalkeeper at the club, following the departures of Lukasz Fabianski to Swansea City, and the conclusion of Italian Emilio Viviano’s loan deal.
Begovic has been a top class performer ever since signing from Portsmouth in 2010, and has been a target of several big name European clubs, including Real Madrid, Barcelona and AC Milan.
But Arsene Wenger is hoping that around £8 million, and the lure of London can prize the keeper away from Stoke.
Stoke are in no real rush to accept a bid for the keeper, who is currently away on international duty at the World Cup with Bosnia, with the Potters having a long-term replacement in the form of Jack Butland.
Arsenal have also been linked with Pepe Reina in recent weeks.
