Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, is keeping tabs on Sporting Lisbon right-back, Cedric, and could lodge a £25.5m bid for the defender in January.
The 23-year-old is on of Europe’s hottest right-backs on the market and his agent has revealed that clubs are showing interest in him, with one of them being Arsenal.
The Gunners are currently suffering a shortage of defenders with Mathieu Debuchy, Laurent Koscielny and now potentially Kieran Gibbs all out injured, leaving Wenger with just four recognised, fit defenders.
It’s believed that Gibbs won’t be out for too long, but Wenger is still in the market for a new defender in January and Cedric could be seen as a potential signing.
When about about his client, Cedric’s agent said: ‘We are happy his work is being recognised.
‘Right now, we continue to negotiate the renewal of the contract between Cedric and Sporting. But nothing is agreed.
‘All scenarios are possible [in January].’
