Arsenal legend Robert Pires believes that they will definitely finish in the top four under Unai Emery this season. The Gunners had a poor start to the season by defeats to Manchester City and Chelsea. However, they have come back strongly and have won 9 matches in a row. Arsenal are currently 4th in the league table and are only two points behind Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool.
Emery deserves praise for the impact he has had on Arsenal after replacing Arsene Wenger who was at the club for 22 years.
Arsenal finished the last two seasons in 6th and 5th positions respectively. However, Pires thinks Emery can bring the club back to the top four.
Pires said, “For the moment I am very happy of course for the club because I am an ambassador for Arsenal but especially for Unai Emery because he’s a great manager. He done well with Sevilla, he won some titles, especially with Paris Saint-Germain last season. And of course you know you need to improve every day but Arsenal actually are on a very good run, especially in the Premier League.
Nine games, nine victories so I think they will finish in the top four, sure, 100 per cent.”
Since their defeat to Chelsea, Arsenal haven’t faced any big team. Their next match against a big team is against Liverpool on 3rd November. Arsenal’s next Premier League fixture is against Leicester City on Monday.
