Arsenal legend Ian Wright is of the opinion that Unai Emery is tougher than Arsene Wenger already. Wright believes that some of the tough decisions that Emery took during the Chelsea game, Wenger wouldn’t have done that. During the match, Emery substitutes Granit Xhaka after the interval and took Mesut Ozil off in the 68th minute.

The Arsenal legend said, “What was encouraging was that he made those substitutions, big substitutions for me. Xhaka would have stayed on under Wenger, so would Ozil, and what’s that said now in that dressing is that ‘no one’s going to be safe, if you don’t do what we need you to do, you’re coming off’ and I’m pleased to see that.”

Wright believes that Emery can bring in new players who can suit his style of play rather than using his current players. The 54-year old said, “It’s going to be a massive problem for him because I don’t know if he’s going to get the kind of monies that he’s going to need to make the kind of signings that are going to, hopefully, help him in the positions he’s going to need.

You’ve got to get yourself to the next transfer window and then you can get someone who might be able to come in and implement what you want to do more because you need a few players to come in who are used to playing like that because I don’t think a lot of them are.”

The Gunners play their next Premier League fixture at home against West Ham. Both Arsenal and West Ham will be keen to get their first points of the Premier League. The Hammers began their Premier League campaign with a 4-0 loss to Liverpool. They followed this with a 2-1 defeat to Bournemouth at home.
