Arsenal line up Serie A star to replace Alexis Sanchez
Arsenal are already looking at alternatives for wantaway star Alexis Sanchez, who is set to leave either in January or next summer when his contract at the Emirates Stadium expires.
According to reports in the English press, the Gunners are interested in signing AC Milan striker Andre Silva as a replacement for the Chilean.
Arsene Wenger is said to be a long term admirer of the 21 year-old, who has impressed in Italy following his ÂŁ34million move from Porto last summer.
However, Milan have struggled to match expectations so far this season and may have to sell if they don’t qualify for the Champions League.
Silva has scored 6 goals so far this season, all of which coming in the Europa League. Despite his excellent form, manager Vincenzo Montella has overlooked him somewhat in Serie A.
This could mean that the Portuguese international may be available at a cut price fee, and with Arsenal likely to lose both Sanchez and Mesut Ozil either for free or on the cheap, an option such as this would be perfect for them.
The one caveat of a potential January deal is that Silva would be cup-tied for the Europa League, although qualifying for the Champions League is the Gunners main target this season.
If Ozil and Sanchez do go in the winter, Arsene Wenger will be desperate to get quality replacements in immediately and Silva fits the bill.
For Portugal he has scored 11 goals in 17 appearances, and he scored 24 goals for Porto last season before making the move to the San Siro.
