Arsenal linked with Bundesliga striker

Schalke forward Klaas-Jan Huntelaar is the latest striker to be linked with a Summer switch to Arsenal, despite reports suggesting Liverpool are keen on signing him to replace Barcelona-bound Luis Suarez.

The 30-year-old has been a success in the Bundesliga for many years now and is still one of the most clinical finishers in world football, but with just one year left on his current contract at Schalke, a move away could be on the cards.

The Dutchman, who scored the winner in the last-16 game with Mexico at the World Cup, would provide Arsenal with the serious fire-power they lacked up front last season, and he would take a lot of pressure off Olivier Giroud, who was the only recognised striker at Emirates last year.

Huntelaar is curently stalling on a new deal in Germany as he feels ready to move to a bigger club in order to compete for titles before he retires.

Arsenal have also been linked with Mario Balotelli from AC Milan, but Huntelaar would be a cheaper option, and it’s believed Arsene Wenger is currently weighing up his options regarding a striker signing.
