Gunners facing competition from West Ham and Atletico Madrid for striker

Arsenal are locked in a 3-way transfer war with West Ham and Atletico Madrid in the race to sign Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette.

Wenger is said to have switched his attentions to Lacazette after missing out on Leicester’s Jamie Vardy- who signed a new contract with the new Premier League champions this week.

Wenger is well aware of the forward’s talent, as he scored 23 goals in 43 matches in all competitions last season in France. However, that wasn’t enough to get him into the squad for his home European Championships this summer.

However, London rivals West Ham and Spanish giants Atletico Madrid are also interested in the striker.

The asking price for whoever buys him will be ÂŁ45million.

The Hammers — reflecting the ambition of their board as they prepare for life in their new home at London’s Olympic Stadium — have already had an offer of ÂŁ42m rejected.

Lacazette has three years left on his contract, and that enables Lyon to put a premium price on their prize asset.
