The Gunners are lining up a move for the West Ham man if Bellerin leaves for Barcelona
Arsenal have identified Sam Byram as a possible replacement for Hector Bellerin, according to reports in Italy.
Bellerin is wanted by Barcelona, who are on the lookout for a new right-back after letting Dani Alves move to Juventus. The Spaniard has impressed with the Gunners since joining them and the La Liga side are eager to secure his signature this summer.
Arsene Wenger will no doubt not want to lose one of his star players but if the 21-year old was to decide to move to Spain and left the club, reports are suggesting that the club would want Sam Byram as his replacement.
The West Ham man is still only 22-years old and has done a decent job in defence since moving to the Hammers from Leeds.
Only joined Hammers in January
He is not only capable at right-back but he still has bags of potential to get even better and Wenger wants Byram to become the Gunners’ next right-back if Bellerin was to leave.
However, he only moved to West Ham in January and the club would not be keen on letting him leave so soon after signing him.
But, if the Gunners launch an official bid – which would have to be at least double the ÂŁ3.7m the Hammers paid for him – then they may decide to let him leave.
