Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes striking duo Olivier Giroud and Lukas Podolski have started the season well and thinks they are both proving their point that they are capable of leading the line for The Gunners.

Many people have been saying Wenger needs to sign a star striker this summer if the club are wanting to compete for silverware, with the likes of Luis Suarez, Gonzalo Higuain and Wayne Rooney all being linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium, but as of yet, the club have only managed to sign Yaya Sanogo on a free transfer.

However, in the space of three days, The Gunners scored six goals, with four of them coming from either Giroud or Podolski.

Their scoring record shows that they are ready to start up front for the side, according to Wenger.

“By scoring the goals and being efficient offensively they are proving a point,” he said. “I am sure of their quality.

“People are not only worried about that but also the numbers to fulfil a whole season. Podolski can play up front. We have Giroud, Sanogo, Walcott. They are scoring so I hope it will last.”
