Arsenal midfielder is in ‘advanced negotiations’ with La Liga club, Valencia.

The midfielder has made just 1 league start for the Gunners so far this season. He is behind the pecking orders with Granit Xhaka, Jack Wilshere, Aaron Ramsey and Mohamed Elneny given preference.

West Ham have also been linked with a move for the Frenchman. But it is believed that Valencia are leading the race to sign Francis Coquelin.

The 26-year-old, became a mainstay in Arsenal’s midfield during the 2014/15 campaign when he was recalled from a loan spell at Charlton in December. He formed a good partnership alongside Santi Cazorla for the remainder of the campaign.

The French international is valued at £12m and he also fancies a move away from the Emirates. Valencia would like to take him on loan for the rest of the season with an option to buy.

Coquelin was left out of Wenger’s 18-man squad for their FA Cup third round defeat to Nottingham Forest on Sunday in an indication that his time is up at the Gunners.
