Lyon’s chairman claims the player will be stay at the club until the end of the season

Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas has claimed that Alexandre Lacazette will not be leaving the club this summer.

The Gunners have been eager to land another striker during this summer transfer window in a bid to bolster their strikeforce in the 2016/17 season.

They have been linked with a plethora of attacking options from Gonzalo Higuain to Mauro Icardi. One name that continues to be linked though is Lacazette, with Arsene Wenger’s side having already had a bid turned down for his services a few weeks ago.

Staying in Ligue 1

A deal for the Frenchman might not be on the cards any longer though, as Lyon’s club president has claimed that the 25-year old will be staying in Ligue 1 until the end of the new season.

The striker has already begun to start firing in the goals for his side in this new season, bagging a tremendous five goals in three games so far. This comes after a season in which he featured 42 times for his club in all competitions and bagged himself 23 goals – it shows that he certainly knows where the back of the net is.

There is no doubt he would be a huge asset for Arsenal to have as they look to challenge for the Premier League title this season. However, the likelihood of him making the move to the Emirates Stadium doesn’t look so promising anymore.
