Arsenal must trigger release clause for Quintero

Porto have told Arsenal that they must stump up £31.7 million if they want to sign young Colombian starlet Juan Fernando Quintero this summer.

The figure would meet the 21 year-old’s release clause, and the Portuguese side are unwilling to let him leave the club for anything less.

Arsenal bid £15.8 million for the winger over the last couple of days, however it was quickly rejected as Porto demand that to be doubled.

‘Porto haven’t called me yet to negotiate the sale of Quintero,’ said his agent Ricardo Calleri.

‘There are clubs interested – there is much interest in the player. The clubs interested are in Spain and in England.

‘But to leave one would have to pay the release clause.’

Quintero joined Porto from Pescara in 2012, and has made 22 appearances, with four goals scored and appeared for Colombia in this summer’s World Cup Finals.
