Gunners chasing Dortmund centre-back

Arsenal have reportedly opened talks with Borussia Dortmund over a possible move for their centre-back, Nevan Subotic.

According to Italian football journalist Emanuele Giulianelli, the Gunners recently contacted the German giants about the want-away defender.

He tweeted last Friday: “Arsenal officials got in touch with Borussia Dortmund last week over Subotic.”

Giulianelli has made a host of bold transfer predictions on Twitter in recent months.

He reported Arsenal’s signing of Granit Xhaka weeks before it happened – although other claims such as the Gunners asking after Tottenham star Dele Alli have been wide of the mark.

Subotic, who has also been linked with a move to Liverpool, has announced that he is planning to leave Dortmund after falling out of favour under Thomas Tuchel.

The Serbian, under contract until 2018, wrote on Facebook: “Dear friends, during the last year I realised that my love for the game of football in an active role is too big to just be able to see it from outside. Football is an important part of my life. I love it and I can’t be without it.

“I am in the best age for a football player and I want to use my time to improve myself and my team every day. And I want to have the feeling I am needed and I can give everything for my club. That is what I am thinking about.
