Sampdoria signing Jankto has paved way for Arsenal who wants to sign Lucas Torreira.

Lucas Torreira could move to English club Arsenal after his linkup with Sampdoria has come to an end after Sampdoria completing the signing of Jankto from domestic rivals Udinese. Jankto was previously linked with Arsenal, but it now seems he will act as the replacement for Torreira, who is targetted by Emery for Arsenal.

The Uruguayan defensive midfielder can move to Arsenal after his father hinted a transfer of the player to Premier League. His father said,”t’s a big change [going to England] and we don’t want to think about it yet because we’re scared.”

His father added, “The truth is it’s tough to manage the language, adapt to the [London] society and customs and at the same time not lose ours. “But there’s a whole programme getting readied for Lucas.”

Lucas has been a part of the Italian club for 4 years. He joined the club in 2015 but was immediately loaned to Pescare, another italian club for 2 years.  His first goal for Pescara came against FC Sudtirol in the 2015-16 Coppa Italia game.

Torreira has represented Pescara for 42 games across 2 years and was 6 times on the scoring sheet before moving back to Sampdoria for the 2016-17 season.

Trooeira made the Serie A debut for Sampdoria against Empoli which was the first game of the season. He went on to represent the Italian club for 74 matches and scored on 4 occasions.

If the deal happens, then the 22-year-old will become Unai Emery’s fourth signing of the transfer window adding to Sokratis from Borussia Dortmund, Bernd Leno from Bayern Leverkusen and Lichtsteiner from Juventus.
