Arsenal are preparing a January move for Benedikt Howedes with Arsene Wenger keen on strengthening the club’s defence. If the German did move to the Emirates Stadium, he would be reunited with some of his international teammates in Lukas Podolski, Per Mertesacker and Mesut Ozil, which is bound to be a bargaining tool to convince the player to join.
The Schalke captain can play at either left-back or centre-back and his versatility would be a huge benefit to the Gunners.
However, the Bundesliga club won’t be too keen on letting their club captain go and will want around £15m for his services. It shouldn’t be too much of a problem for Arsene Wenger with the fee being well within the Gunners budget so come next month, Howedes could very well be an Arsenal player.
