Arsenal Football Club are set to ramp up their interest in Real Madrid forward Alvaro Morata after an injury to Theo Walcott has ruled him out for the rest of the season.

Suffering ligament damage in his knee, Walcott will now miss up to six months, which has left Arsene Wenger with only Lukas Podolski as a fit striker, with both Olivier Giroud and Nicklas Bendtner also out injured.

Wenger has previously been interested in the Madrid youngster, but Carlo Ancelotti confirmed that the striker is not available for loan, but it is reported that the Arsenal boss is ready to go back in for Morata and offer Madrid yet another loan deal for him.

It is understood that Arsenal do not want to permanently sign someone who may not be needed for next season, and they feel that Morata is the perfect option to fill out until May, but Madrid are not willing to lose the striker permanently or on a loan either.

Despite their refusal, Wenger is confident that he can get a deal done.
