Arsenal are set to ramp up their interest in Benfica striker, Talisca, after Lukas Podolski has told the club he’s ready to quit in January due to limited first-team opportunities.

The World Cup winner has failed to cement a regular first-team spot since arriving in North London from Germany, and after being pushed further down the pecking order since the arrivals of Alexis Sanchez and Danny Welbeck, the German is now considering a Winter exit.

Podolski said: “I have assessed my position in the team, and it has to change now,” he said.

“Let’s see what happens in the winter. The fact is that I’m not happy with it, that’s clear.”

With the 29-year-old wanting out, Arsenal boss, Arsene Wenger, is now keen on signing a replacement, and his eyes have turned to Portugal and the league’s top goalscorer, Talisca.

The Brazilian striker has caught the eye of the Premier League outfit after a stunning start to the new campaign, and a ÂŁ17million bid may be tabled in the New Year.

However, The Gunners will face serious competition from rivals, Chelsea, as Jose Mourinho has also expressed his interest in the 20-year-old.
