Defender set for another loan-spell away from Emirates
Arsenal have agreed a loan deal with Sunderland for defender Cal Jenkinson, according to reports.
The Mirror claim that a one-year deal worth ÂŁ1.5m is being negotiated for Jenkinson, who spent last term also on loan, at West Ham.
Interest in Jenkinson
The Hammers, as well as Southampton, were also said to be keen on the defender, who made 36 appearances last season.
But, it appears that Sunderland are in pole position for the England Under-21 star.
A deal has been provisionally agreed, and could free up space in the Gunners‘ pursuit of Southampton’s Nathaniel Clyne.
New Contract Despite Loan
It is not set to be end for good for Jenkinson at Arsenal, though. He may be rewarded with a new contract, despite seemingly always being farmed out on loan.
Liverpool are also seemingly keen on Clyne, and have had an initial ÂŁ10m deal rejected.
