Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is interested in Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa, according to reports.
The Gunners boss has sent over two scouts to Spain to watch Madrid’s next two matches as Wenger eyes Winter reinforcements in order to compete for the title come May.
Wenger has instructed his scouts to assess Costa in Wednesday night’s Copa Del Rey clash against Sant Andreu and Saturday’s La Liga match against Levante, before reporting back to England and giving him the feedback on the striker.
The Brazilian is one of the deadliest strikers in world football so far this season, scoring 22 goals in just 21 games, and his impressive goal tally has caught the eye of Wenger who is keen to add depth to his attacking threat as he currently only has Olivier Giroud as a recognised striker.
Costa has however recently signed a new contract at Atletico, but it is understood that there is a £30million release-clause in his contract and it is thought that Wenger is ready to meet that price-tag after the two parties have already began to discuss a potential transfer in January.
