Arsenal ready to hold talks with Premier League goalkeeper

Arsenal are reportedly ready to open formal talks with Stoke City goalkeeper Asmir Begovic regarding a potential Summer move.

The Gunners are in desperate need of a new shot-stopper after Emiliano Viviano’s loan-move expired, and back-up goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski has left the club after letting his contract run down in search for regular first-team football.

That has left Arsene Wenger with just Wojciech Szczesny as a recognised ‘keeper, and with money made available to the Frenchman this Summer, he is expected to sign another goalkeeper to provide competition for the Pole.

Wenger is desperate to provide Szczesny with a genuine competitor, and he believes Begovic is the man to provide that competition, and it’s believed officials from both clubs will hold formal talks later this week to discuss a potential transfer.

Arsenal are prepared to offer ÂŁ8million for the Bosnian, but The Potters are not going to sell easily, despite having Jack Butland as their long-term replacement.
