They will try again this month but it’s more likely it will happen in the summer.

Jan Aage Fjortoft, the man who first broke news of Mesut Ozil’s move to Arsenal via his Twitter account, believes the deal will be done.

The Norwegian, who played for Middlesbrough, Sheffield United and Swindon, is now a TV commentator in Germany, where he is still hero-worshipped for his goals at Eintracht Frankfurt.

Fjortoft claims Draxler was impressed during a recent visit to the Arsenal training complex.

Draxler is a versatile attacker and is certain to be part of Germany’s World Cup squad.

However, Arsenal have been handed a blow in their bid to lure Roma striker Mattia Destro, 22.

Defiant Roma chiefs are refusing to open talks about a possible switch even though Destro is behind Francesco Totti and former Arsenal attacker Gervinho in the pecking order.
