Championship centre-back, Tyrone Mings, is set to be in the middle of a transfer tussle between Arsenal and Chelsea, with The Gunners ready to make a formal £8million move for the Ipswich Town star.

The 21-year-old has been seen by Chelsea as a potential John Terry replacement, despite them already having Kurt Zouma at the club, and with Mings’ versatility of being able to play left-back as well, interest in him is high.

Both London clubs have sent scouts to watch the Englishman, and both have received glowing reports and Arsenal are now ready to launch the first formal move by lodging an £8m bid in January.

According to reports, Arsene Wenger sees Mings as a perfect partner for Calum Chambers in the heart of the Arsenal back-four, and his ability to play left-back as well is something that has caught the Frenchman’s eye.

It’s believed Ipswich are waiting for bids to come in and are resigned to losing him, and it’s thought an £8m offer would be close to their valuation.
