Manchester City’s powerful centre forward Edin Dzeko is a reported target for Arsenal, as it has emerged in the last hour or so that Wenger is keen, and is willing to stump up the cash to bring the Bosnian international to London.

The Manchester City striker, who admitted last week that he is unhappy at his current squad status under new manager Manuel Pellegrini, game-time this season, is seen as a player who can help ease the burden on Olivier Giroud, who has been in mixed form during the current campaign.

Arsenal also feel the Bosnian needs regular game time to prepare for next summer’s World Cup in Brazil, as Bosnia look to have a good, steady campaign, with an in form centre forward leading the line.

Wenger has admitted his interest in the Bosnian, who signed for Manchester City from Bundesliga side Wolfsburg in January 2011, and impressed under former manager Roberto Mancini, with his powerful attributes, but Dzeko has admitted his general frustration under the new management staff.

Wenger also want’s to keep the pressure of both Mesut Ozil, and Aaron Ramsey, who have starred in Arsenal’s ever increasing title challenge this season. Dzeko would most certainly bring height and a will to win to the side, as Arsenal have also been linked with Real Madrid’s French international striker Karim Benzema in recent week’s, with Giroud becoming Arsenal’s ownly real centre forward at the current time, with Lukas Podolski having injury problems.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is aware of the strain being put on Giroud, who has been put on a special training programme to ensure he stays fit to lead the Gunners’ title challenge.

Giroud, who has played 18 games already for Arsenal this season, has shown signs of tiredness after reporting up for France’s World Cup play-off with Ukraine on tonight, in what is a vital showdown for the Frenchman.

However, If the Gunners want to land Dzeko, they will have teams such as Borousia Dortmund, Juventus, Inter Milan, Juvents and Roberto Mancini’s Turkish side Galatasaray, who are looking into a possible transfer to replace the ageing Didier Drogba.
