The former Chelsea man could sign a new Hertha Berlin deal in January
Arsenal have been handed a blow with the news that Salomon Kalou wants to remain at current club Hertha Berlin.
According to reports, the 31-year old is enjoying his football and wants to put pen-to-paper on a new deal at his current club. He’s impressed in the Bundesliga so far this season and he has put in a series of good performances during his time at Hertha.
He is able to play down the middle or on the wing, something which is a huge boost to the club and he has established himself as one of the main players at the club since his move there in 2014.
Wenger is fan of Kalou
It’s good news then for Hertha Berlin and fans of the club that Kalou wants to stay at the club and intends to sign a new deal.
However, it’s bad news for Arsenal, who were considering a move for him. Arsene Wenger is believed to be a fan of the former Chelsea man and was contemplating a move for him in January.
Kalou could have been a good addition to the side, with his wealth of Premier League experience and the fact that he has improved even more since moving to Germany.
This news might not stop Arsenal from testing Hertha Berlin’s resolve with a bid but with the news that the player himself plans on staying, it’s likely that he would turn a move back to England down anyway.
He appears to be happy in the Bundesliga and it means that Arsenal are now likely to miss out on his signature.
