Premier League side Arsenal will face a battle with Spanish giants FC Barcelona, as they both declare interest in Bayern Munich midfielder Javi Martinez.

The Spanish international has revealed in a recent interview that he isn’t enjoying life under Pep Guardiola, and he’s admitted that it isn’t how he thought it would be, which has sparked rumours that he could be leaving this Summer.

The holding-midfielder is expected to go to Brazil for the World Cup with Spain, and could have a big decision to make after the competition as well with both Arsenal and Barca interested in signing him.

Martinez, who came from La Liga side Athletic Bilbao, is valued at around £30million, and it’s believed that both teams are willing to match that price-tag with both keen on signing a new defensive midfielder.

The Gunners are keen to replace Mikel Arteta and after being knocked back by Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Lars Bender, their attentions have now turned to Martinez, who is also being tracked by Barcelona as they look to strengthen their side after a testing season.
