Arsenal to bide their time over £55m Cavani move

Striker unlikely to head to the Emirates Stadium until the summer

It appears ever more likely that Arsenal will bide their time and wait until the summer to try and complete the signing of Edinson Cavani.

Uruguayan forward Cavani has been the subject of a £55m move to the Gunners.

Arsenal are targeting firepower up front, and see Paris St-Germain star Cavani as an ideal addition to their forward line.

The club are not adverse to spending large amounts , having signed Mesut Ozil for over £40m and Alexis Sanchez for more than £30m.

Should Cavani arrive, the average wage bill at the club would shoot up, as he would likely command around £160,000 per week.

This would likely upset the applecart among the current highest earners at the club, who may chase higher wages.
