The Gunners to add more firepower up front

Arsenal are reportedly ready to offer Real Madrid £35million for striker Karim Benzema and will also offer the striker a contract worth around £220k-a-week, making him the club’s highest earner in history.

The French international is growing unsettled with life in Spain and is keen on a new challenge away from the Bernabeu, and it looks like Arsenal could be his likely destination.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has been a huge admirer of the target-man since his Lyon days and has continued to monitor his situation during his spell in Madrid.

Benzema has netted 22 goals so far this season for Carlo Ancelotti‘s side, but with reports breaking yesterday that the Italian boss has been sacked, several changes could take place at the club over the Summer.

Madrid failed to win any silverware this season which was enough for Ancelotti to lose his job, despite his record in the past two seasons.

With Ancelotti out and uncertainty over the Bernabeu, Benzema could be the next to leave with The Gunners prepared to part ways with £35m for the 27-year-old.

Arsenal are in the market for a new striker to help take the workload off Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck, and Benzema could be the man to do that.

The North London club have also been strongly linked with Jackson Martinez from FC Porto, but it’s believed that Benzema would be Wenger’s ideal signing.

According to reports though, Arsenal would have to make Benzema their highest paid player in history as he eyes a contract worth over £200k-a-week.

Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez are currently the club’s top earners on around £150k-a-week.
