Arsenal are set to land a new striker in the shape of Eduardo Vargas from Serie A side Napoli, with reports suggesting a loan-move could be finalised within the next few days.
The Chilean international has found first-team opportunities limited at Napoli under Rafael Benitez, and after spending the second half of last season on loan in Spain with Valencia, Vargas is now set to spend the season in England, with countryman, Alexis Sanchez.
According to Chilean reports, Arsene Wenger could wrap up the loan deal as soon as Wednesday, as the 24-year-old could become the club’s fifth Summer signing.
Wenger has been searching for a new striker in order to take some of the workload off Olivier Giroud’s shoulders, and despite having; Yaya Sanogo, Joel Campbell, Sanchez, Lukas Podolski and Theo Walcott, the Frenchman is still keen to sign an out-an-out striker for the new season.
Despite being linked with Mario Balotelli and Edinson Cavani, it looks like a loan-switch for Vargas will be the likely signing for The Gunners.
