Arsenal are preparing to make a £15million bid for Cardiff City goalkeeper David Marshall, after his side were relegated back to the Championship this season.

The Scotland international was one of their very few shining lights in the Premier League and after his impressive season in top-flight football, the Welsh side have valued him at £15m, which according to reports, hasn’t put off Arsene Wenger.

The Frenchman is keen to sign a shot-stopper after Emiliano Viviano’s loan-deal expires, and Lukasz Fabianski left the club on a free after his contract expired, and Marshall appears to be the number-one option to challenge Wojciech Szczesny next season.

Arsenal’s rivals, Tottenham Hotspur, are also interested in the 29-year-old, but the thought of Champions League football may persuade Marshall to join Arsenal, rather than Spurs.
