Gunners ready to beat Premier League rivals

Arsenal are in pole position to land Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain as speculation surrounding his future builds up with the season nearing it’s conclusion.

The Argentinian is reportedly on his way out of the Serie A club in the Summer, joining Rafael Benitez who is also expected to leave with his contract expiring, and several clubs across Europe are all interested in signing the striker.

Higuain, who is eager to leave the club, has been linked with a move to England, with Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United all previously linked, but it’s now reported that Serie A champions Juventus are keen on signing him too.

Juve fear they will lose Carlos Tevez in the Summer and want to replace him with Higuain who is also a proven goalscorer in Italy.

However, they will face competition from Arsenal who were originally close to signing him before he joined Napoli.

Previous Arsenal interest

Arsene Wenger stalled on the deal with Real Madrid as he turned his attentions to Luis Suarez from Liverpool, but after failing to sign the Uruguayan, he also failed to sign Higuain.

According to reports, Arsenal are willing to pay around ÂŁ29million for the striker and will offer him a ÂŁ60k-a-weel deal.
