Arsenal told Alessio Cerci can leave

Arsenal have been given a boost in their hunt for a new striker as Italian side Torino have told Alessio Cerci that he can leave the club.

The Gunners may be in the market for a new striker before the window slams shut on Monday, due to Olivier Giroud breaking a bone in his leg, which will rule him out of action until late December at the very earliest.

The Frenchman has had surgery on his leg and will now start his recovery, but it will leave Arsene Wenger with just Yaya Sanogo as an out-and-out striker, which could force the Arsenal boss into the transfer market.

Wenger has previously been linked with Loic Remy, Radamel Falcao, Wilfried Bony and Mario Balotelli, but it now appears that Cerci could be a likely option, especially after the club had this to say regarding their striker’s future.

‘Cerci’s buyers are overseas,’ Urbano Cairo, the Torino president, told reporters.

The 27-year-old had also been wanted by AC Milan and AS Roma, but they have now been ruled out.
