Arsenal want FA compensation after Wilshere injury

Arsenal are wanting the Football Association to pay £600,000 compensation due to the injury picked up by Jack Wilshere on Wednesday night during their friendly with Denmark.

The England and Arsenal midfielder picked up a knock in the first half after a tough challenge from Liverpool centre-back Daniel Agger, and despite clearaly being hurt by the impact, Wilshere carried on and only then substituted in the 60th minute.

Despite Wilshere himself saying he wanted to carry on, Arsenal are still wanting the FA to pay-out due to them not being careful with one of their stars and not picking up the serious injury earlier.

After the game, Wilshere was told that it was just bruising to the ankle, but once he returned to Arsenal’s medical team, it was concluded that his ankle was actually broken.

The 21-year-old is now likely to miss up to six weeks of action, which could see him struggle to get into Roy Hodgson’s World Cup team as he would have little time to regain match fitness before the squad is announced in May.

The FA are prepared to pay compensation when players get injured during internationals, but it is a long process which can eventually end up with no money being paid out at all.
