Arsene Wenger has sent scouts to watch Sevilla star

Arsenal are plotting a £22million bid for Sevilla midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak, according to reports.

The transfer news emerged late last night during the UEFA Super Cup Final, which Krychowiak was part of, and Arsene Wenger has ordered a scouting team to go and watch him play.

According to the reports, scouts were sent to the Super Cup Final, which ended 5-4 to FC Barcelona after 120-minutes, and the Sevilla midfielder played the entire game.

Despite being on the losing side, the 25-year-old had a good game in the heart of the midfield and is acknowledged as one of the best holding-midfielders in La Liga.

Midfielder Needed

Arsenal are in dire need of a new centre-mid, with Mathieu Flamini and Mikel Arteta the only backup options as things stand, behind Francis Coquelin.

Wenger knows his team needs a bit of depth added and after missing out on Morgan Schneiderlin and Geoffrey Kondogbia, Krychowiak could be his man.

The Polish international has a release clause in his contract with the Spanish side, which stands at just shy of £22m, and it’s believed Arsenal are prepared to activate it in order to get the deal done quickly.

It’s reported that the midfielder is open to the move with Arsenal being able to offer Champions League football.
