Barcelona youngster is Arsene Wenger’s dream target
Arsenal are ready to activate Sergi Samper’s release clause in order to sign him from FC Barcelona.
The Gunners have a past of signing Barca youngsters, with Cesc Fabregas and Hector Bellerin both coming from the Catalan club during their youth days.
Both of those have gone on to have successful careers in North London, with Bellerin having a breakthrough season last year, and Fabregas going on to become club-captain.
Wenger’s Dream Midfielder
However, Arsene Wenger has set his eyes on another young Barca talent and wants to bring him into the club over the summer.
Samper has yet to break through at the Nou Camp and has a release clause in his contract worth £8.4million, which Wenger is ready to trigger.
The central midfielder could be the reason why Wenger didn’t pursue Morgan Schneiderlin or Geoffrey Kondogbia, who joined Manchester United and Inter Milan respectively.
According to reports in Spain, Wenger is desperate to sign the 20-year-old and Samper himself is also keen on the move after growing frustrated in Barca’s B squad.
However, the La Liga giants are thought to be considering a loan move rather than a permanent one.
