Arsene Wenger gives green light for January Perez move

Arsenal are watching in-form Deportivo La Coruna winger Lucas Perez, with Arsene Wenger ready to make a January move for the Spaniard.

Perez’s career to date doesn’t stand out like much of the Arsenal squad, but has attracted the interest of the Gunners with his fine form in La Liga this season.

Wenger is struggling with numerous injuries, as Arsenal look to maintain a serious title bid while also reaching the knock out stages of the Champions League, so are in demand for cover in crucial areas.

Deportivo don’t wish to let their 27-year-old winger go in January, but Arsenal feel they could tempt the Spanish outfit to sell in January with a big-money bid.

Wenger sends scouts to Spain

Wenger has already had Perez watched this season and during last weekend’s match against Sevilla. Now it is up to the club’s board to work on a deal that could tempt Deportivo to cash in on a player who has scored 10 goals in 14 appearances in all competitions so far this season.

If the move does happen in January, it would mark a sensational upturn in the career of a player who has had spells with Atletico Madrid C, Rayo Vallecano B, Karpaty Laviv, Dynamo Kyiv and PAOK.
