Napoli have confirmed that only Atletico Madrid have made a bid for him so far

Napoli have claimed that Arsenal are yet to make a bid for Gonzalo Higuain – but they have encouraged the Gunners to make their move.

The Serie A side’s president has today spoken out about all the interest in the club’s star striker and has claimed that only Atletico Madrid have made an official bid for the forward so far.

He (Aurelio De Laurentiis) told DiMarzio.com: “Atletico Madrid offered one month ago €60m + two players for Higuain; I refused.

Now let’s see with Arsenal”

The Gunners are desperate for a striker

It seems as if it would take a large offer to tempt Napoli into letting go of the Argentina international, as shown by the fact they rejected a large cash and player bid from Madrid.

However, De Laurentiis hasn’t dismissed the Gunners and is clearly waiting for them to make their move to see whether or not it would be worth letting go of Higuain.

If Arsenal were to land the 29-year old, it would be a massive boost to Arsene Wenger’s side. The club have been desperate to bring in another striker this summer, with the side having held talks over moves for Mauro Icardi and Alexandre Lacazette alongside Higuain.

If Arsenal make a concrete bid for Higuain, it does appear as though Napoli may seriously consider it and could let the striker go to England.
