Frenchman states deal is not happening

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has dismissed reports that he is set to sign Karim Benzema from Real Madrid.

The Gunners have been strongly linked with signing the Frenchman, and have been linked with the 27-year-old for the past few seasons. However, as of yet, nothing formal has ever come out of their interest.

Benzema’s Future

It’s known that Wenger is a huge admirer of Benzema, and has tracked him since his Lyon days back in Ligue 1, but after the striker chose to join the Bernabeu, it looked like he would miss out on the chance to work with his countryman.

However, with Rafael Benitez taking over at the La Liga club, he could make some changes which could see Benzema left out on the fringes of the squad.

If that did happen, that could leave Arsenal with the chance to finally land the target-man, but so far, Wenger has confirmed nothing is in the rumours.

Wenger Dismisses Reports

“I don’t know where that story has come from,” he said. “But that’s not happening at the moment.”

Wenger however did confirm that one deal is done, and that is Yaya Sanogo going out on loan to Dutch side Ajax.

Sanogo Move Confirmed

“He will go on loan, I believe he needs to play,” he added.

“He’s ready and he’ll get an opportunity to play in the Champions League.”
