Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is delighted with how midfielder Aaron Ramsey has developed this season and he has paid tribute to the Welshman for being strong enough to get through a tough period last season.

The career of Ramsey has had more downs than ups, but 2013 has been superb for the 22-year-old as he put in some superb performances at the end of last season and he has got even better already this campaign.

Ramsey has become one of Arsenal’s most crucial players and has already scored 11 times this season from the centre of midfield and that is quite the difference from the midfielder fans were used to watching.

In an earlier report, it was revealed that Wenger was advised to drop Ramsey for home games due to the impatience of the home crowd getting on his back, but the Frenchman is full of praise for how his midfielder has fought through tough times.

“As a manager you are always in a period where you think, ‘do I push him through and he can go more down?’ Or do you give him a breather to regenerate to get him a fresh start?

“That is always difficult for us to assess because it is linked to their mental state. When their own confidence is down, of course they are in trouble, but Aaron is a confident boy.

“We always saw that he had a good engine, now he has another quality in that he does not hide to take the ball, and when he makes a mistake, he doesn’t hide again. For me that is a quality. He is always available to take the ball and play.

“Where he has improved a lot is in his first touch, in his finishing, in the quality of his long balls which was always too strong or not accurate enough and in the speed of his vision.”
